If it were an actual kanto sequel, where kanto actually changed(and so did the characters, and maybe a few gym leaders retired) in a way that significantly develops the world it'd be nice.

If its just nostalgia wankfest then it would suck, and given it is a kanto sequel, its the most likely scenario.

Everything after the Elite Four and Champion is considered "post-game" by Pokemon standards, you even get the credits after defeating Lance in Gold/Silver.

While none of the others game has a entire region as extra, many have extra portions of the maps, pokemon, cities, and a part of the main story left for the post-game.

A new Mega Charizard and a new Mega Mewtwo, with 150-200 BST boost. Doesn't require Mega Stone.
More focus on story. More cutscenes.

The last thing I want is not as important as others, and I won't be too disappointed if it isn't there, but I want them to be called Pokemon Red X and Pokemon Red Y. Charizard as the version mascot of both. Mewtwo is the final boss, with his new Mega form that he can access without Mega Stones.

I wouldn't be surprised but I'd set my expectations sky high because they have to do something interesting and fun in order to make the kanto region actually interesting.
