Ground is one of those types where you have your obvious mons. Like desert, mud, that kind of thing, then you have shit like Nidoking or Gligar, where it's a lot more vague.

Flygon is a desert dweller and some of the dex entries refer to that, also the "goggles" to see in sandstorms. Ground fits.

The Swinub line seemed odd, but Piloswine's entries talk about it digging up stuff under ice, and they're always in mountainous locations like icy caves.
