Still, the way to go in any battle facility is to minimize hax. I saw someone post a SubRoost mono-attacking Mega Salamence + Aegislash combo that shredded the Tree by not giving the AI any room to fuck him over.

The third slot can be honestly anything, desu. MM and Aegi cover nearly everything except Weavile and Mamoswine. I used Gastrodon because it fucks over most of the rotom forms for free.

Using this team in conjunction with scouting for sets makes for a pretty braindead experience. My highest streak is around 180~, was ended by a team with bulky Porygon-Z and mudshot/thunder/guillotine Vikavolt.

252/252 hp/def Togekiss with a healing berry twave/nasty plot, airbslash, dazzling gleam is sooo gud. You can practically set up on anything

Ash greninja is just as good as protean. good back up to send in after your lead has done it's job

Aegislash and scizor/m-scizor are more consistent as your steel type

This is good but not entirely complete advice. OU/Ubers mons are in OU/Ubers because they're good against other OU/Ubers mons in Smogon's fiat meta. That's not to say they're not strong, but the Tree has no knowledge or care for Smogon's rules and will throw bullshit at you that you have absolutely no way to predict based on Smogonite strategies.

The safest bet is to look up each trainer's team on Serebii or similar so you can make educated guessed about what they're going to do. Using this strategy I went to 50 with Tapu Bulu/Oranguru/Scizor/Marowak with relatively little sweat.
