4 moveslot syndrome is when a mon has at least 5 good moves to use but has only 4 slots. Megagross utilizes Thunder and Ice punch well along with Mash, Zen, Bullet punch and earthquake as well as agility. Its not really a drawback if you build your team around a particular set

It only has 4 moveslots for all its coverage:
You want Iron Head/Meteor Mash for STAB and Fairies
You want Zen Headbutt for STAB and bulky Poisons like Venusaur and Toxapex
You want Thunder Punch so you don't get walled by things like Gyarados and Skarmory and Celesteela
You want Ice Punch for Genie of Healthy Meta or Zapdos, even physically defensive Tangrowth can be a problem
You want Hammer Arm so you don't get forced out by Ferrothorn and Chansey
You want Earthquake because it's your strongest option against Heatran, Volcarona and other Metagross
Pursuit and Bullet Punch are also good options for their own obvious reasons
Grass Knot gets boosted by Tough Claws and is your strongest option against Mega Slowbro

How? Are you implying that because base Metagross went down to UU that it is bad?

I want to assume you're saying as such because you're comparing it to its Mega or because it's in the tier only just below OU, which is pretty flawed thinking. You don't really bat an eye if an OU team has one or even two UU Pokemon in it, right? As long as it benefits the team synergy and holds its own it is more than fine, because ultimately it's still a good Pokemon despite coming from a tier below. Metagross, Gengar, Clefable, Starmie, etc. are all still pretty damn good.

If you wanna make claims that a Pokemon is trash, go poke fun at NU and PU when the tiers become available.

I can give you Tyranitar's, but that's also a case of the mega going for a different niche than the base form, unlike sala and meta which are just the same but stronger.

There are a lot of checks to megagross and even some counters. The only issue with them is that people don't want to use them is that they *seem* fringe or otherwise unviable. But that's not actually the problem with these pokemons - it's problem with people who don't want to adjust, adapt to changing meta. It comes from smogon, where smogoners are very sceptical about thinking outside the box or just being creative. I mean, they even BAN certain pokemons from BEING DISCUSSED in their viability rankings.
But it's sad to see this mentality again on the 4chan, which I thought would be more open minded.
