Bugs are nice. Anyone want to post about bug pokemon? If so here's a thread just for that. Pictures of bug pokemon, discussion about how they could be improved as a type, discussions on which bug pokemon you like or dislike the most. All that is welcomed in this bug thread,
Not all types are made equal.
Besides, Bug has some really cool abilities/moves that a lot of other types rely on.

Has the coolness of pokemon designs peaked?

I just think it'd be nice if those cute little bugs we catch at the beginning of the game could actually amount to something. Most early game bug pokemon are barely usable in trainer battles past the 4th gym in most games. Cutiefly/ribombee was definitely a step in the right direction.

Mega bee-drill was the only megabug to improve on the base design. Mega sizor and mega heracross just look stupid imo.

Do you think it's possible to safely mate with a Scyther? The scythes are definitely dangerous but the abdomin looks so inviting

bugs are not for fug!

That's the point for most of them. They hit their stride early and get replaced when stronger options appear later. Same reason that dragons evolve at stupidly high levels most of the time.

My point is that i should have to replace a pokemon on my team. If a pokemon is too weak to take through the game with you when fully evolved, you did it wrong. Remake it. I wouldn't mind if that means it'll take longer for them to evolve. What's the point of letting us raise and get attached to a pokemon like butterfree if we're meant to just throw it away?

The point is that you get something that curbstomps everything early on and becomes more and more underwhelming later on. It's just the trade-off you traditionally get with bugs (although as you pointed out, that's been changing). Also, Butterfree's a bad example because it can be decent throughout the entire game.
