Personally I hope the Hub world type pokemon anime is the new formula from now on over the adventuring type. Like it is mindblowing that some of her stuff is based of such an old movie.
It fits well with the whole space and time theme of diamond and pearls legendaries. She got modern but also things of the past to wear.

To be honest the whole episode is kind of based on the movie. Princess wants to have some time of her stressful princess live and hides her identity to do so. She wants to have a normal life without royal duties for a day.

While they took a little too long to have her get going, it was obviously done intentionally to show a Serena who started off aimless only following Ash around, to a girl who then discovered what she wanted to do and got into her own thing. The writers/directors even said this was intentional, the haircutting scene was meant to shown her change into the Serena for the rest of the series.

Please no meming. Is the SM anime any good? I didn't like it at all from the first few episodes. The art style doesn't work for me and humour is not the reason I want to watch Pokemon. From what I heard, it doesn't seem like Ash has any concrete goal that we as viewers can see actual progress towards like before (regardless of the fact that he always failed) and the anime itself doesn't seem to have any purpose.
