Then a Piloswine that I crit and killed in Sacred Gold (HG hack)
Then I finally caught a shiny Poliwhirl in X by chaining fishing

A shiny Ponyta in Leaf Green my friend caught then gave to me was the first actual shiny I ever got.

First was a shiny Mareep in a horde battle in X, which I didn't notice until I'd already hit the run button (thank you, panning camera), so I didn't catch it. The second was a Scatterbug, also in X, which I did manage to catch.
Neither of them felt good to find because I knew about the increased shiny encounter rates in XY. It just made me feel hollow, like I was getting a consolation prize for never getting a shiny in the generations where they were rarer.

Oddish in Emerald. They were freaking everywhere in that game so I told myself that it would be my first shiny, and sure enough, I found one on the daycare route.

Was playing White the day it came out and my first double battle grass encounter on route 5 was a Solosis and shiny Trubbish. My first shiny was literal trash. I immeadiatley grew fond of the Pokemon though. But right after that I went back to the Desert Resort to train and my first encounter was a shiny Darumaka. My first two shinies were back to back and its one of my top most memorable Pokemon experiences

1 in ~4000 is still rare, sure, but it's significantly less rare than 1 in ~8000. It's literally double the chance.
The fact that I encountered two in the same X playthrough but still haven't encountered a single one in any of the games where they were rarer, despite multiple playthroughs, really drives home how much easier they made it to find them, and it just makes the ones I found feel much less special.

My first shiny was a pink Golbat in Pokémon Ruby while walking through victory road; that was in 2004. I caught it and left it in a box.

Never encountered any others until Sun; I hatched a shiny Abra when I wasn't even looking for one, Jolly nature :P and caught a random shiny A-Raticate. Also an npc had a shiny Hippowdon in a Battle Royale. They feel way more common in the new games

The first full odds shiny was Sandshrew in Leaf Green, but I got a shiny Tyrogue from the Odd Egg in Crystal

My first pokemon card was Machop as well. I found it after my mom wouldn't let me have pokemon cards because religious reasons.

My first shiny was a Golbat, found in the Sky Pillar in Ruby while I was grinding my team to lvl 100. I had never seen nor heard of a shiny Pokemon before, and at first I thought there was something wrong with my SP. But then I remembered some random NPC in the game saying something about"different colored" Pokemon, and it clicked. I caught the bastard and evolved him into Crobat, and he still lives in my Pearl cartridge.

First one I saw was a Girafarig in Emerald. It ran away because it was in the Safari zone and I had no idea it was so rare. I told my friends about it and they didn't believe a different colored Pokemon was possibe.

First one I caught was a Meditite in Platinum. Found it in the first part of Mt. Coronet and used him in my team for the game. He's in my Black file right now along with some others waiting to be transferred.

A shiny koffing in fire red. I was even more lucky to have it considering how the lighting was at that moment and i barely noticed a difference, decided to capture it just in case and there ya go. Got it to evolve and then transfered it over to my Soul Silver rom in R4 to be my eternal reminder that dreams come true, that alsmo made me like koffing more.

Shiny Spinarak very early on in Gold, later caught a Nidorino in the same playthrough, then the red Gyarados. And no more legit shinies until this year, when I caught a shiny Teddiursa in SoulSilver.

Magnemite in Emerald. Used battle tower save glitch to duplicate it and trade copies for other pokemon I wanted.

Aside from Red Gyarados, the first shiny I encountered was a Drowzee way back in Silver.
Didn't know about shinies at the time, thought the game was glitched, so I ran. Didn't see another one until a Slugma in Mt. Stark in Diamond, while I was paired up with Bucky and had to watch in horror as he killed it. First one I actually caught was a Spearow in SS while I was on the commode. Was literally checking my bag seconds before for Quick balls in case I ran into a shiny, because I didn't have a False Swiper with me at the time.

Fire red emulator- Oddish
Emerald- Slugma during a playthrough (crit killed ;_;) and Numel (traded to a friend)
Diamond- Bronzong in Mt. Coronet is the one that I caught with the full 1/8000 odds. Then chained multiple Shinx, Mareep, Ralts, and one Spoink and Pachirisu.
Heart gold- Magma in the goddamn safari zone, of course it ran
Heart gold randomizer- Ninetales with full odds
White- Audino in 2 separate playthroughs
X- Zubat in a horde battle, Swirlix in the friend safari
Moon- Granbull

Drozee in crystal. Called him purple. He's gone now

I have 5 shinies from random battles (greninja, garyados, slowbro, durant, landorus) but desu I'm not much of a shiny guy as it's pure luck.

I have never owned a shiny that wasn't pre-arranged.

All I have are red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage, shinies of other trainers that I traded for, and event giveaways.

The closest I've gotten was with a shiny Pidgey in Fire Red. Not only could I not catch it (it used Whirlwind on me), I was playing a ROM on my computer, not a genuine copy (ie. I have no legit shinies in my real games that I paid for).

A dugtrio in platinum. I was grinding for the last pokemon for my 100% pokedex.

My younger sister fucking got a shiny tailow in ruby, FIRST POKEMON SHE ENCOUNTERED EVER. (not counting the starter and fixed poochyena encounter.) Hilarious part was she asked me "how to catch pokemon" and I just stood their dumbstruck.

Meowth in FireRed. I was on the route to the left of Lavender town. My volume was off but I saw the sparkles and I freaked the fuck out. Transferred it to SoulSilver and made it a Persian, I lost that SoulSilver copy.

My first shiny Pokémon was a shiny Gligar in XD. I was really gullible as a kid and almost traded it away after a friend of mine told me it was a game ruining bug.

the first shiny i encountered was in silver. it was a koffing in the trap section of rocket hideout near lake of rage. it self destructed on me before i could catch it.

the first shiny i actually cougt was in moemon emareld 386. it was an electrike. i was not disappointed by her preformance in battle, but i still think electric type are boring, only second worst to ground.

most of my shinies i caught in touhoumon purple. i was very suprised to see touhoumon had shinies

My first was a shiny Magikarp in Diamond. I evolved it into gyarados but when HGSS came around it meant nothing because everyone with HGSS had a shiny gyarados now. Traded it over GTS for something I don't remember.

Second shiny was a quagsire in Y plus I've caught a few other shinies since then so I'm not mad at all. Some people have played for years and never encountered a shiny and they might play for years more and never find one.

I had a worse experience with Shinies in Ruby: I encountered and caught over half a dozen Shiny Zigzagoons/Linoones.
It got so bad that I wanted to tear out my hair every time I ran into another one.

Not counting the Gyarados, my first encounter with a shiny was a Corsola off the shore of the route South of Goldenrod City in the original Silver, while playing on Pokemon Stadium 2. The worst part was that my box was full, so it wouldn't let me capture it.

Second was a shiny Buneary in Diamond (or maybe Platinum, don't remember) where you had to escort that green haired chick with the Chansey through the woods. All encounters were double battles, and even if you knocked one out, the game still refused to let you aim at the only Pokemon left.

The rest were all mystery gift distributions, I've never encountered one I could properly catch in the wild yet.

Baltoy, in some pirated copy of Ruby my mum got me out of nowhere one day, neither of us were the wiser.

The funny thing is, I didn't even know about shinies at the time, not only that but it was about the fourth Pokemon I ran into since the copy already had a save file.

I assumed it was better at beauty contests because it was blue, and got halfway through them all without even knowing how the contests worked.

Other than that, my first shiny in an official copy was Zubat in Pearl. Luckily I was slightly less braindead retarded at that time.

First shiny I ever found was a shiny Lombre in Sapphire years ago. I was leveling up a Kadabra to evolve (Then I found out it didnt evolve by level up.)
Also sidenote,I guess young me decided it was a good idea to Master Ball said Kadabra since Abra had Teleport.
