Has there ever been such a divide in quality between generations than the great gen 6 to 7 divide?

don't you mean 5 to 6?
>>32335676
damn i didn't think of that
Which one do you think's worse? I feel that the 6-7 decline was worse than the 5-6 one, though we need to see what the future of this generation will be like before we can make better comparisons. There's still the miniscule chance of a B2W2-esque miracle for the trainwreck known as SM.

5-6 easily, 7 at least took a single step in the right direction in terms of exp share.

2-3
>Went from a continuation to a reboot and took out things like Day-Night cycles and transferring past Pokemon.
>Gen 2's soundtrack is considered one of the best while the gba's soundfont for RSE was pretty poor
>Gen 2's aesthetics are always praised while gen 3 sprites and overworld looked either wonky or just plain inferior.
>Pokemon designs are still pretty mixed to this day
>People are still mixed about Hoenn's water routes to this day
Such a disconnect that the majority of the original fanbase left and came back later in gen 4. 5-6 was big as well with it's simplification. If anything 7 just felt like a continuation with a couple things fixed and a couple things taken out.
Don't necessarily hate gen 3 but I understand the shit it gets. Going from gen 2 to gen 3 was pretty rough.

You mean 5 and 6 right? 6 is shit of course, but 5 is amazing while 7 is only a little less shit.

I love Generation 3 now, but at the time it was rather disappointing.

Gen 3 got too much hate when it came out. It was perfectly fine and Hoenn is an interesting region despite the water routes with tentacools. Plus we ended up getting Colloseum and Gale Of Darkness which at the time I thought would be the evolution of Pokemon shifting towards consoles. Still hasn't happened and we've reached a point where we can't even trust Game Freak making a remake on the 3DS, let alone shifting towards console.
Both gen 6 & 7 were enjoyable imo, though I don't like how GF have ever since Gen 5 created somewhat less powerful trio masters and then given them stronger forms in a sequel/next gen game, and Zygarde is a pretty poor example and should of had been utilized better. At the very least, after finishing the side quest in SM the player should get the Complete form just like the previous forms it'd be a way better in-game progression.
Tbh I liked Gen 7 more than Gen 6, and that's counting ORAS as part of Gen 6
