No. Some things will always be better than others. Friendship only takes you so far. The first season painted friendship clearly. It didn't help Ritchie. His friendship with Charmander was stronger than Ash's with his Charizard, at least. And he was destroyed. This always happens. For every one fight friendship wins, it loses 10 others to stronger Pokemon.
