I think a dark type reverse girafarig would be a cool regional variant and could be in an area with lots of ghost types

Girafarig, along with a few others from Generation II, really makes me wish that Game Freak was not afraid to retcon and revamp the series.

If I were to make a list of grievances I have with Girafarig in particular, they would be:
>neither its neck nor its "neck" is long, thus it really doesn't do a good job at representing giraffes in the first place
>its Pokédex number isn't even a palindrome
>its stats are pitiful due to being a Gen II Pokémon
>its second head doesn't even do anything other than silently just sit there

At this point, I'd just want it to get a Mega Evolution. Pic related is basically perfect -- a meaner looking Girafarig who embraces the palindrome idea it has had as the one interesting thing since its creation. One of the few fanon Mega Evolutions that looks better than not only the real Pokémon's design, but than most of the actual in-game Megas as well.

Girafirg can change the direction it faces. Facing has different types (maybe psy/norm on front, dark/? on back)

Switching would either be which type move you use, so you get STAB, or maybe a unique move but it would have to not be a shitty waste of a slot

How about instead of trying to combine them we split them like:

Girafarig was introduced into the forest of region X from the Y region many decades ago.

Girafarig became a very popular Pokemon due to its black side any many were brought into the cities as pets, but at the same time went by wild Girafarig found it hard to survive in the forests of region X that were filled with dark and bug types so they fled to the mountains.

Over the years each Girafarig began to lose their 2nd head.

The city Girafarig became predominately black, developing a smaller body than the original Girafarig that was brought to region X and lost its psychic typing in favor of a fairy typing after years of pampering and selective breeding.

It is not a very smart Pokemon but it's popular among young women and children for its cute yet mischievous face and is said to bring happiness wherever it goes.

Meanwhile the Girafarig that moved to the mountains took on a predominately yellow color, grew sharper horns. and gained a majestic and sagely appearance.

They gained a fighting type in place of their original normal typing to adapt to life on the mountains and became the top species.

It is a protector of the weak and will sometimes even heal the sick.

Enthusiasts often get into heated arguments about which form is best.
