I disagree. Lucario's success was definitely deliberate. He was always built to be the perfect marketing tool, focus tested with the Japanese children to ensure maximum appeal. He had it's own movie and ingame cameos even before gen 4 started. Nothing like that is/was happening with Incineroar, it's clearly the least liked of the Alola trio.

You can argue that they chose Incineroar to match up with the trainer's design, but if you look at Alain and Riley, among others, the idea that they base the trainer off of their lead Pokemon isn't far fetch'd. Decidueye has low defence, a uselessly high special attack and a mediocre movepool; Incineroar loses speed and becomes slower than Litten despite having a special movepool on par with Decidueye and having the same special attack as Torracat, doesn't get moves you would think a heel fire tiger would have like Fire Punch and Sucker Punch and has an iffy movepool as well; Primarina's signature move lacks the damage boost of the other status-affected attacks and hits allies, and its hidden ability is complete shit since it lacks the power boost of the other type changing abilities and only has two or three moves that works with it.

In contrast, Greninja has magnificient movepools in all four categories, a hidden ability that allows it to gain STAB on any attack, a special form that gains more points than a Mega, a 60 BP priority move and boosts its already high offences and speed to insane levels; receives several distributions, becomes the star of the anime come XYZ, the only fully evolved starter in Gens V/VI to be owned by a main character and ends up in SSB4.

Couple this with intimidate.

I just personally think it's a mite disappointing to have it with a playdoh flat chest when so many other manly muscular brawlers like Buzzwole and Machamp have clearly defined muscular structures. Even Conkeldurr has the veins to show muscle. Incineroar does bipedal catman better than a lot of series but it's just not my cup of tea.

You know, you might be totally right about what all you said, except the Charizard part. It's always been my favorite and I honestly never got tired of it being thrown at us even when unnecessary and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
The only time I disliked a Charizard was when Alan's Mega-Zard-X won against Ash-Greninja in the anime. Other than that, they can keep shilling Charizard at will, the more the better for me.
