They don't give a shit about fan expectations or anything like that. They care about what makes money. And they will change their shows, games, manga, whatever they have to follow the latest dollar trend. They don't give a shit.

Look at all the horseshit Konami did, dumping their main creative minds, turning most of their franchises into pachinko machines, and turning Metal Gear into a 4-player co-op zombie shooter, because that's what was making money at the time. Nintendo, GameFreak and the Pokemon company may not be THAT fucked up, but they're not exempt.
