We never get episodes where it's only Ash and Pikachu together since he's always been surrounded by his friends.

This shot here, where he's talking about how he's happy that he's come to Alola is something we haven't seen before in the series.

We've never had Ash sit down and have a serious chat with Pikachu and outright saying, "I'm happy we chose to do this, I'm happy that we've come to this region."

It was a powerful moment because the battle obsessed Ash is fine living a comfy life with his friends at the moment. He has adventure, but this is the first time we've really seen him kick back and relax with his Pokemon.

There is literally no reason not to praise today's ep. Even tho I really disliked how SM discarded adventure aspect of the Pokeani, Litten arc is good, conclusion is perfect.

Adult animes, like KlK have an amount of slapstik and nothing wrong happend with the quality of the series.

I hope the SM saga continues to get better todays episodes were really good. If this keeps up the only complaint about SM will be the art style and that's mostly subjective. If the writing can stay consistent as we progress and Ash starts going to the other islands, maybe some more anons will enjoy discussing the future of the anime in here

A large part of the hype was it came after BW and revived peoples interest in the anime. Had XY come directly after DP instead, it would have still been well liked of course, but not had as much hype behind it. Had Serena's crush never existed than that would have been a big difference as well.

The early/mid Hoenn fillers had a lot of fun episodes. The Sharpedo episode, giant Claydoll episode, the tag battle eps, that Shiftry episode where it kidnapped a Nurse Joy, he giant Gulpin episode, etc.

Classmates are one of SM weaknesses. But honestly all of them are pretty much Brocks of this season, except maybe Lillie. There isn't much to work with.
