Honestly yes. Frustrating my opponents is a big thing for me in lots of competitive games, I find it really fun.

In fighting games I'll commonly play the most annoying characters too just because it pisses people off.

It's unsportsmanlike as fuck.

They claim the fun is from "salty tears" but that can only account for maybe 5% of the time using stall. The truth is that, for the most part, they just really feel pressured to win and get Smogon points on a children's game because of autism or what have you. Winning feels good, sure, but for these people Pokemon is the pinnacle of achievement.

A lot of people find fun simply in making the most successful and and consistent team they can, and winning with it. How interesting the games are is no concern to them.
I hate the attitude those people tend to have for people who enjoy using unusual or risky teams, but that's how they choose to play.

It's fine. It's also fine to have a Mega Sableye on your team. Same for Skarmory, Chansey, Toxapex, Dugtrio, and all the other stall staples.
It's only a problem when you have six of them on the same team.

teams dont carry dedicated checks to it anymore but since yveltal checks check darkrai too it doesn't matter.

I enjoy certain "stall" strategies but full stall is boring and when people DC on me just as I stall my way into setting up a perfect KO machine it's the ultimate boner killer both because I feel like a dick and because there's not even any payoff to the dick-being

The best way to handle it would probably just be to give certain types an immunity to it, like they did with Spore and Powder moves. Psychic might be a good pick due to it and Cresselia's lore.

Some stall mons are fun to use, others aren't. I like mons like M-Sableye or Sigilyph who can become sweepers after a few turns, as they provide some variety to the game, but things like Chansey or Gligar/Gliscor make the game just longer and not fun at all, except if you like repeating the same pattern over and over. But if you have fun doing this, maybe you should play MS Excel instead.
