Gen I and VII's AIs for regular trainers are pretty bad.

I don't know anon...battle frontier was a pain and blue's arcanine knew nothing except extreme speed

I've seen the computer be really smart and use effective moves consistently and other times where it uses earthquake on flying types. Makes things harder because I never expect what they'll do

A lot of the issues stem from being before Physical/Special split and lack of good moves in general. R/B/Y in general has garbage movesets as most good moves hadn't been introduced yet.

Gen 5 AI is the best? I remember having a Dry Skin Croagunk and Hugh used a water move on it while in the sewers to heal me.
