I'm just not a fan of the color choice. Its shiny looks great and besides the top of the head being too plain and smooth, I like the design, but the caucasian skin tone on the body and head makes it look creepy and uncannily human, especially with the "beard".

He is one of my favorite mons of all time, love him, saved the line for me. Was a Chespin fan from day one, Quilladin made me skeptical, and Chesnaught saved it

Honestly design is always used as a point, but the fact was cancerbird made him unplayable. And am still sour to this day over it, just like how froakie line lost the cloudy build that was neat for a fucking tongue scarf...

People try to imagine it "cool" or "hot" when its true charm is when it acts "dopey" or "cute"

Barafags are obnoxious, don't think its actual design is that bad but I don't like how it's posed in game, and it can be annoying to play against in comp, it's one of those mons that only ever seems to get used on stall. I don't *hate* it or anything but it's not my favourite either.

It's one of the few nu-gen mons that I actually like. It's design needs some work though, if its arms and legs had actually joints instead of being noodles it would look better

Yeah pretty much. People think it's supposed to be really "cool" but it's actually quite silly. Also the colouration is due to a ripened chesnut, which I thought was pretty clever.

Gen 3's all drew inspiration from animals. Blaziken is based on an upright-walking breed of cockfighting chicken. Sceptile is based on leaf-tailed geckos and certain dinosaurs, the latter of which walked on their hind legs. Blaziken is humanoid because it's a fighting type. Just like Charizard grew wings to match its flying type, even though lizards don't have wings. All the Fire/Fighting starters (and the Fire/Dark one) are humanoid. Nonetheless, the animal Blaziken is based on has one of the most human bodyplans of any bird.

Needless to say, gen 3's starters are far and away the cleverest and most well-considered designs of any set of starters.
