Actually in Diamond and Pearl block, Weakness has different calculations ranging from +10 to +40 (Very rare for the last one) and x2 depending on what Pokemon it is this is also when Resistance is reduced from -30 to -20

I think they should at least match. Either have Weakness and Resistance do +x0/-x0, or have them both do double/half damage. How it is now makes weakness losses kind of unfair just because you were unlucky enough to go up against someone who had a type advantage. It automatically sets you up for a losing battle.

Fire is actually weak as a type in standard, there is only one decent non-meme fire deck that only feels good because grass took off in SM. All of the decent fire support is expanded only now.

Good types (multiple good deck archetypes, has good support cards):
Dark (getting buffed)
Grass (getting buffed)
Psychic (getting slight buffs)

Meh types:
Water (getting huge buffs, will be good after guardians)
Lightning (getting huge buffs, will be good after guardians)
Fire (getting slight buffs but aquabox moving up a tier will hurt volcanion as much as lurantis/decidueye helped it)

Shit types:
Fairy (getting a slight buff)
Metal (getting some decent new pokes, will still be too slow to be good, but might be meh tier)
Fighting (getting an insignificant buff, all of its support cards are expanded only now)
Dragon (getting jack fucking shit and will lose DDE at rotation if it's not reprinted in SM3, which the reprint in BOXY basically guarantees wont happen)

What's the most viable Solgaleo deck I can build in standard?

Solg/Lurantis is generally considered the best solgaleo deck. Solg/Darkrai/Dragons is another option but it's mad, mad janky.

I like Solg/Lugia the most in terms of consistency. Solg/Xerneas BREAK is also pretty good. All Solg decks run into the same issue of consistency though, and being utterly destroyed by itemlock.

Guess what was the weakness of the only Pokémon that was banned for being too strong.

Better to just use turt in a volc-EX deck. The top 5 new archetypes we get with SM2 are

1. Lurantis/Bulu
2. Turntornator/Volcanion
3. Aquabox 2.0 (no new pokes really, but aqua patch makes it a whole new deck)
4. Koko Thunderdome (Koko-GX/Raikou/Jolteon/Electrode)
5. Trev/Garb

Lurantis/Bulu is going to be a tier 1 deck, almost certainly. A grass deck that has an attacker with no weakness, combined with both a damage boosting supporter and energy accelerator that use the same fucking basic is just stupid good and being a basic, Bulu deals with Glaceon which was the only answer that Lapras waterbox had for grass decks.

Ranger is going to become a more important card in many lists due to Turntornator, and due to decks that use Jolteon/Glaceon both getting good new cards. Alolan Muk will become a more common tech since there's a way to deal with Garb now, and Muk hits a lot of these new decks pretty hard. Field blower becomes a mandatory 2-3 of in most decks, removing tools is just too important to not have a way to do it if it's available. I can see cards like Sableye turning up in some decks but I think it will be a scrub trap for the most part. Machoke becomes an option against decidueye in decks with highly donkable basics and becomes appealing as a one-of in some expanded maxies lists.

I have a hard time estimating just how good Trev/Garb will be. I imagine a lot of players will pair the two with Vileplume at first, but then you realize that they can shuffle their hand with supporters still, and lategame self-Ning to 1 can totally neuter the damage that Trev can deal while not giving Garb any food.

The lack of a weakness was NOT what broke Sneasel, it was the fact that for 2 darkness it averaged 80 damage for 2 darkness and could hit up to 140 with good flips back when 'big basics' had 70-80HP and 120 was the HP hard cap.

Actually the number 1 archetype is Trev Break/Vileplume. You can get the Break turn 1 and alternate between Poltergeist and Silent Fear all while locking the opponent. Its strength is boosted by the fact that it's a different kind of turn 1 lock than Decidueye, meaning decks likely won't have an answer for approaching both forms of lock. You can also run one Nervous Seed to fuck up Volcanion and Turt.

Most durable, but catch dirt a lot more easier. Indents can leave a mark which may result in marked sleeves.

Bushiroad stays clean longer, but more likely to get sticky. I switched to their non-mattes from KMCs. Their matted sleeves don't have a traditional matte texture, they're just smoother or something.

Epoch's are clear and matte, but flimsy as all hell. The matte side doesn't have any glossing, so you get the extra bonus of clear artwork.

I'd agree with you, but that is false.

People refuse to play anything outside of the Tier 0/1 because of how braindead easy it is in YGO. Zoo, Infernoids come to mine. Artifact Windwitch Invokeds is one deck that has some restrictions on it's turn one depending on how you open as it is a literal jumbled up mess of many different things in an attempt to stun your opponent, but by the end of the day, it is still mind numbing.

I'd say MTG is the most degenerate card game out there in terms of how broken it can be.

Pokemon and YGO are solely decided by the meta at the time and how reliably degenerate said meta can be.

I'm not saying MTG hasn't been degenerate in the past(Urza's Legacy combo winter and Caw Blade come to mind), but standard has been pretty balanced for the past couple years, outside a few hiccups(Collected Company). The problem right now is that standard sucks so fucking bad right now after some bannings, and is currently a two deck format with Saheeli combo and Mardu vehicles, which is part of the reason I got back into Pokémon. Modern is great, though, and so is legacy, but there's not a ton of tournament support for the latter these days. Hopefully Amonkhet can fix the standard issue.

You're better off to start off in Standard since you can get to know the smaller cardpool/less archetypes to learn, then work up to the bigger variety of Expanded once you've gotten to grips with Standard. If you are buying RL cards too, your more recent Standard purchases will last longer. There wasn't a rotation from Expanded sice they rearranged the formats, but that's not to say they won't do one this year to make Expanded XY-on. No-one can know for sure till September.

given that they're releasing new decks/sets that include BW era reprints I'm doubtful they will rotate expanded this year or at all even. I don't see the point in them doing that since it doesn't solve any problems in the format or fundamentally change how it plays at all. BW base is basically the set where they decided to bring the game back to a fast paced basic oriented one like it was in base era.

Expanded is slowly just going to become a slightly less busted unlimited if that's the case which is fine by me. I actually enjoy unlimited the most of any format but you can't effectively play it in PTCGO anymore. Legacy format was a shitty idea and should be scrapped in favor of unlimited with specific card bans (and a blanket ban on any trainer card printed before Team Rocket).

You shouldn't buy sets with cards that you need simply because the odds are REALLY against you. Even if you buy for an uncomon card, the chances are too small. People usually buy ROS because Shaymins are so expensive you might get one from your coins before getting enough tradable packs. You could also save for guardians rising.

Don't count on anything coming to the store. If it happens, great, but don't wait for it. Mew EX is NOT expensive. Usually goes for 3 packs, but you might get 2 for 5 (I already did).

Neo was potentially one dimensional, but it all depends on the environment.

I played on a league, we played unlimited, but even then, people would just play whatever they were in the mood to play.

Only one girl played Feraligatr for some time, but ended up quiting the game anyway.

My guess is that, by then, the testers just assumed that people would try to play what was available for them and not try to solve the game and buy only the needed cards. Of course, if that's the case, they were very naive.
