XY/XYZ was my favorite series, I've been in these threads since the first episode of XY aired.

SM isn't XY, it's not trying to be.

Both have their merits, XY was an action shounen series, SM is a SoL comedy. They are vastly different from each other but that's what makes them both great. XY felt like the continuation we deserved after the disaster of BW, then SM - like the games it's based off of - is trying something new after a very defining series for the anime.

Ash has retained his abilities from XY for the most part it seems in SM, he's fought a legendary Pokemon twice in just the first 20 episodes. And while the fights may not be as high octane excitement as XY, people are so blinded by XY's greatness they can't see anything good in SM. SM is doing a lot right in regards to the characters, Pokemon, and setting. A lot better then how XY was handled, but after XYZ everyone is comparing 50 episodes of nonstop action of a series conclusion to the first 20 of a series opener.

XY didn't get it's first real incredible battle until Korrina's Gym Battle where things then started picking up pace very fast. That was 44 episodes in.

People need to stop bitching about not having a Olympia, Wulfric, or League tier battle within the first 20 episodes.

Yes you can. Relative to Decidueye and Primarina, Incineroar gets a lot less art on places like Pixiv and Deviantart and it consistently gets the least amount of votes in polls - the last poll I saw it had only 17%, that's really low. It is definitely the least popular Alola starter and less popular than Litten (who usually is pretty close behind Rowlet in polls).

The fandom shrunk in size after XY's end: some people who were willing to put up with the anime for years finally gave up after the league, the ones who had come back at any point during XY's run (and there were many, the "I haven't seen this shit in X years..." part in the previous OP pasta wasn't there by coincidence) also left, and so on.

Either way, it points to Rowlet's and Decidueye's popularity. If Litten is going to evolve to Incineroar even if it's not as popular as it first stage and is the least popular final stage, then Rowlet should evolve to Decidueye.
