I had a dominating rock monotype gym team back in XY and ORAS. Worked well in triples.
Tyranitar, Cradily, shuckle open: shuckle sets rocks & web, encore anyone setting up and infest anyone who might want to switch out. Cradily has storm drain and makes the opening line immune to water.
Back three are archeops / rhyperior / Aerodactyl. 'cheops is the revenge killer. Carries no item for maximum acrobatics damage. Rhyperior is an assault vested Smogon coverage set. Aerodactyl is there for mega shenanigans.

Alolan Geodude's line is my least favourite of them all. Especially Golem, it literally just cribs off Probopass and Rhyperior (magnet moustache man with the ability to shoot Geodude), so it's completely redundant.

Rock does have a lot of awesome Pokemon though. Archeops, Tyrantrum, Aurorus, Carbink, Gigalith, Tyranitar, Crustle, Aggron, plus more, they're great.
