I honestly have no idea. An entire ability that revolves around one move isn't technically new, but in this case it's a move that is something it should have by default. It's almost like they gave it a shitty signature move and then make you 'pay' for the non-shitty version with a HA.

As far as GF is concerned, it is good, considering it's great in Battle Spot singles. You may say you don't care, but Battle Spot is really popular especially in Japan and Primarina gets a lot of usage in that format. I agree on the HA being underwhelming though, hopefully it gets Boomburst in the future.

To be fair, he isn't necessarily wrong. Just look at how Popplio/Primarina gets constantly shafted in every pokemon-related media. In the anime it's given to a secondary character unlike the others, and in the manga it literally only appears in the first chapter or so and then gets thrown away.

The anime is mainly directed at little boys, and the last time Ash had a feminine starter was several gens ago. Giving Popplio to a female trainer was the only choice in the writers' eyes, as it's already being marketed as the starter for little girls.

And the manga is a case of Kusaka using giving starters to the male and female protags based on a pattern of Grass -> Fire -> Water for the boy, while the the girl gets the starter weak to the boy's. Red had grass, Gold, had fire, Ruby had water, Dia had grass, Black had fire, Lack- 2 had water, X had grass, and now Sun has fire.

And yet usually all of the starters get fair amount of representation somehow. The only major exceptions are Fennekin and now Popplio, who got pretty much none at all. And what do those two have in common again? He could have given Popplio to Hau at least but he didn't even do that.

I really hope they also introduce some new moves at that point and that there's some new move that makes use of Liquid Voice. I don't see them ever giving it Boomburst and that's really the only move that can make it worth using at this point.

I don't feel like Round is worth trying for the build-up period, but I admittedly haven't tried it. And while I agree it seems made for Boomburst I think GF would consider that OP.

It's a kind of difficult situation that could have easily been remedied if they let it have the same damage boost as the other similar abilities. And I still don't know why they didn't, because there seems like no reason not to since they didn't give it Boomburst.

That's Echoed Voice, Round would be a 120bp stab move that goes immediately after the partner who used it in Doubles. Basically a nuke that could also break sashes and always go first if paired with a fast/scarfed Pokémon.

Well they didn't do a good job then. Regardless I don't feel like Liquid Voice is a useful ability and needs some kind of boost to make it worth using. There are several things they can do, mainly being

How so? Many of the most powerful starters were made good/better after a while, I don't see it being that unlikely. We'll see though, it could never happen and I don't want to get my hopes up. Type coverage for Primarina is not that important in doubles by the way, Water and Fairy alone are usually gonna be super effective against at least one opponent.
