Outside of the terrible dub (Why would you even watch that?), why exactly do people think this movie is bad?

It seems to me that people were just disappointed that their expectations and headcanons for the movie didn't happen and are constantly lashing out at it as a result. It ain't great, but it's still a decent enough movie on it's own aside that BS conflict at the very end and Arceus doing fuck all when he should have been there much sooner.

That's the problem, probably most of the people in 4chan saw the movie in english.
The movie in japanese was pretty decent, well structured, animated (as always) and at least they put something related with arabia where most of the religions were borned (good choice include arceus in the movie).

The language isn't why it was shit. It was shit because half way through it they shoved all the characters except for Ash into the background and reduced the movie to explosions, with nothing to really indicate who's on what side or who's winning. It was literally Pokémon: Michael Bay Edition. And that's before we get to the whole Evil Ash trailerbait bullshit that was literally meaningless with zero impact on the plot.

Hoopa is okay considering it's a legendary free-for-all.
Volcanion is the only one with a proper plot and has the best visuals and "flows" through the best of the three. Also the main legendary being not a "cute", not an "epic" but a cunt was different enough to be likeable.

While i did like the volcanion movie better than the others i think it has some pretty bad flaws, such as faking a character's death more than once just for the feels, and that the villain was just some smart greedy asshole that was there just to fill the role, his motivation where fucking hollow and boring.

That's the part that I like the most. The two Legendaries were actual relatable characters. Movie Legendaries are typically one-dimensional sorta-animals where, if they were a human, you'd be saying "This character is awfully written".
