I would prefer new games set in Kanto than a remake, but it would be ok, as long as they modernize the look of it. Gen IV onwards brought more variety of environments, gave each city its own look and feel, even the routes tend to have more identity. But I feel Kanto in HGSS got cheated of that, even though Johto received a good overhaul.

Except it doesn't feel like that, because we haven't actually been to Kanto in seven years, and even then it was a stripped-down, bare bones ghost of it's former self with no Cinnabar Island, or Power Plant. Just like it was in the original Johto games. The 3DS/Switch would allow them to do so much more with Kanto.

I would love to see a game set after HGSS with a New Cinnabar located somewhere else. Hell maybe on Seafoam for full contrast (as Cinnabar was associated with Fire), but there are places you can expand Kanto with new cities and such a la B2W2.
That's why I would like a new Kanto game that was not a RGB remake.

I don't want to see a Kanto re-remake because they'd ignore all the FRLG additions and would throw the pile of trash that is Lillie into the game's plot.

A re-remake is of course inevitable because it would fucking print money, but I won't be happy about it.

Anon, at the time period kanto games happen lillie was a baby at most. She wont be there if its a reremake.

She will(or might) if its a sequel. But these games arent really character based so even then I dont think she'll show up much.
