This is entirely biased opinion, but having Lance as the champ was the coolest shit back in the day.

I don't think a single moment in a pokemon game will ever match up to how awestruck I was at stepping foot into Kanto and defeating Lance again back in Gen 2. I've always had Lance as my favorite champ for that reason.

Probably Alder. His team is cool, he actually was shown to do more then stand in a room, he doesn't bullshit you and tells you immediately he is the champ, and his team is pretty cool. I thought the idea of him leaving behind his position due to his closest pokemon dying was also kind of interesting and added to him.

His theme is fucking terrible though, really a shame.

What exactly makes Iris patrician? Being a brown loli is the only thing she has going, an she's an ugly loli to boot. She somehow has a shittier team than Wallace and Diantha, and manages to be more irrelevant than the later.
