Mismagius is basically Ursula the sea witch from the Little Mermaid. She'll pretend to be all nice, and give you what you want, but she would only ever do it because she gets something out of it.

A young maiden would seek her out, perhaps. 'Prince Charming never notices me!' she would say to Mismagius. 'I know we're meant to be together, but it's like I don't exist to him. Please give me something that will make him fall in love with me!' And then Mismagius does so, but only if she agrees to a certain condition, or signs her soul away, or something.

It's like a fairytale kinda thing. The ability to create love might not sound bad, but with some applied creativity, and wielded in the wrong hands, (though Mismagius has none,) it can make for pretty dark results. You might gain the love of your life, but that love won't last when Mismagius kills him, permanently separates you from him, or turns him into a frog.
