If you were creating a Pokémon game that took place in the past before the use of electricity (or at least before the invention of computers), how would you handle the PC system? Where would excess Pokémon go and how would you make it so that this system wouldn't be too cumbersome (ex. easily accessible in every town)?
Leave food for them and they'll immediately come to your aid.
Assuming this region is more rural in the past, I'd say have a large farm where you offscreen leave Pokemon you capture there.
Not nessicarily in every town and city but that's how I see it, every major site would have access to it.

A ranch.
I like the ranch/farm idea, and was thinking it could be located in the player's home town. How would you go about withdrawing/depositing Pokémon while on the road? A farmhand NPC in every town who offers to go fetch/deliver your Pokémon for you?

Pneumatic tubes. Massive warehouse. Ancient catalog system for keeping track.
Then one day, you pull out your poke, and you don't recognize the ball. Hilarity ensues.
