SM is definitely one of the hardest. It's easy to get a load of Gen 1 Pokemon though.
When I ran my final team only had two new Pokemon though.
Just started a BS Platinum game because I haven't played Platinum in years.
Here are my early routes catches, hope I'll go further than the second badge this time
This is from my current AS run. Stephen was quite a blast desu.
First of was Skarmory. Murmur’s overheat took care of that. Still managed to chip away 50% of his health though.
Then was Aggron. I hoped Locombre would be able to kill it with one Grass Knot, but it took two. He had ¼th of his health left.
Claydol was next, dead to one critical hit ice beam from Snowy.
Fourth of was Lileep. Grass/Rock was tricky, so I send out Murmur and started brick breaking away. After about 8-10 turns of hitting myself in confusion, getting giga drained and healing myself it was finally over.
Second to last and probably the reason I won was Armaldo. The only thing I really had for him was Bane. So I figured, Will-o-wisp + Hex = Win. But he survived. Then came the idea!
I figured, I could just stall him and make Steven use up all his full restores on this thing, making M-Metagross less of a problem. Which is exactly what I did. Bane resisted X-scissor, the only move it used for some reason, I kept hexing him once, so his health went in the red, predicted his heal by burning Armaldo again. After doing that for a while he was out of his heal spams and Bane landed the killing blow.
Mega Metagross (59) against Mega-Blaziken Thor (54)
Thor was faster, he used overheat and left Metagross at below 10 health. Metagross used Zen headbutt and it's over for Thor
I knew I had to go for Locombre’s fake out. He used it and it was over.
Now I’m probably going for the Delta Episode.
