Not really sure what it proves or disproves. Ladder is just about building a team that is good vs the current meta, sure you have to be ok at predicting but any decent player could easily get top 25 with a really good team.
Grinding ranks after around top 50 is a pain in the ass, you need like a 80% winrate to climb as each win gives like 10 points and each loss is -30 points.
