Make sure it's either Timid (or even Modest for Scarf) and has a usable Hidden Power, like Ice or Fire. You can just Bottle Cap the IVs to be perfect later.

Yes.
You can't change the Hidden Power, so it is crucial to SR for a good one.
Like I said, Fire or Ice are great, as Ice gets the K.O against Chomp and Fire makes a dent into Ferrothorn and Scizor.

Sadly I caught mine way back when SM was fresh and my HP sucks. I run Sludge wave T-bolt Power gem and Grass knot.
