Is there a type that will single-handedly drag the usefulness of a Pokemon down, or make it incredible?
pic unrelated
Steel is pretty much always an improvement.
Ice, probably.
Well an Ice typing can fuck over any obby that's supposed to be defensive, and a Steel typing does the opposite.

Ice/Rock/Grass
>Make it incredible
Fairy/Steel/Dragon

Fairy
Friendly reminder that Fairy type is literally the only reason why Primarina isn't PU.

Fairy and Steel is pretty good to have.

>Dragon
No. Dragon is horrendous offensively and mediocre defensively as a type.

Clicking outrage to win is not a legit strategy any more but that doesn't mean Dragon or bad. It's hits all types for neutral damage bar steel fairy and Dragon of course. It's pretty bad defensively but being resistant to the 4 common types isn't that bad

>Drag usefulness down
Bug, Grass, Psychic
>Make it incredible
Rock, Ice, Fairy, Steel, Poison
Rock or Ice STAB coverage is great offensively because there aren't a lot of Pokemon that can safely switch in on a dual type mon with one of those types, see Mamoswine, Weavile, Tyrannitar, etc. If only there were more fast Rock types and Ice types
Fairy is a pretty great secondary to have for defense, and with the rise of Fairy, Steel and Poison made a rise in usefulness as well.
Drag it down:
Psychic, it dies to bug and dark in like 3 turns
Make it incredible: Flying, earthquake immunity is REALLY useful.
Perfect Type: Dark-Fairy

but mawille is pu or nu and it has amazing typing

>drag down
Bug, unless its paired with Steel. Any Pokemon that has a secondary buy typing that isn't the Steely Bugs would be better off without Bug.
>incredible
Fairy or Steel
Who thinks Battle tree mega stones are overpriced?

>or make it incredible
Fairy and Steel.
>tfw no Grass / Fairy Bellossom.
Grass/Steel is a TERRIBE COMBO

>Dragon is horrendous offensively
>only resisted by one type and doesn't affect one other
>Steel is the fifth-rarest type
>Fairy is the fourth rarest type
>barely 10% of all Pokémon don't take neutral or super-effective damage from Dragon-type moves
