I can understand Team Rocket perhaps looking worse than they have before, but again considering that Ash also changed it feels right to me. Such a change for both also feels in sync with SM being more slice of life as I said. The ultra detail faces and such feel like they fit for similar reasons, SM being more comedic.

Granted it has been awhile since I've watched the anime, but with SM I'm sort of reminded of Kanto where the anime wasn't afraid to show that it was an anime, before it got toned down so that it could be palatable to the entire world.

That these kind of episodes are rare or at most are only usually bits of a greater whole is probably what makes it appealing to some. It's also a three pronged approach where it tries to appeal with humor, cuteness, and the Pokemon themselves having readily apparent personalities and traits.

Why this is possibly true, Kanto itself had a lot of things that you'd either see in similar anime of the time or upon looking back you can realize are from Japan. At some point the anime studio itself, not localizers, deliberately seemed to start scaling back such things, small as they were, to the point where you could probably not guess the country of origin if you didn't know anything about Pokemon.

Ah, lotta things. I guess near the end of XY, interest sort of started dropping off. Already called all the things that were going to happen and so many didn't believe me, like Ash making it to the last round but would not win the League, or that Serena would leave, or her at most giving him a kiss and Ash not really caring about it in a game changing way. It just got sort of tiring since even though I hadn't seen the last act, I knew how it ended, you see? They'd push the edge a bit but in the end, they'd fall back to the familiar rhythms. And they did, everything went exactly like I said. And was just tiring defending that day after day. And a little sad, deflating people's expectations. And despite what I said, I still held out hope my boy Ash would make it. I wanted to be wrong.

Was also busy with uni work and stuff. Tried to start going back to /gsg/ like I used to. Also, found another series (pic related) whose threads took up my time since I devoured it like a maniac. Don't get me wrong, I didn't leave because of the shitposting or anything like that. And I guess I come still out of obligation and tradition, and it is fun, don't get me wrong, but still trying to find the magic of SM. Maybe it's just too unfamiliar, who knows?

Would it be wrong to say I got a team 7 vibe from Naruto out of this episode? While the Pokemon were being themselves I couldn't help but see Rowlet as Naruto for attempting to do right but messing up or causing a bit of an issue, Popplio like Sakura for keeping Rowlet in check and admiring Litten, and well Litten for being well calculated with his plan of breaking free from Team Rocket

I just watched the episode and it was a pretty cute episode, if anything it feels like they have a better hold on the slapstick humor and I hope they keep up with this.

Team Rocket actually blasted off this episode so I guess they're willing to not overdo Bewear going into action to save them, it mixes it up even if a bit.

Quality filler episode/10 I could enjoy the SM anime if they keep this up but I hope the Tapu Koko episode drives Ash to get started on collecting the crystals again it is why he's in Alola.

Great episode. Funny and intense. The interaction netween the three starters was quite good, and the humor worked. Specially when Popplio and Rowlet were falling down.
