I'm neither of those anons and have no idea if they suck at drawing or not, but don't get things mixed up.

The mastercreater guy is a good artist, but he's bad at making fakemon (taking as criteria here the generally overdesigned and bizarre lines that I've seen him make). Those are very different things that one person can be at the same time.

Take narwhaland for example. Is a landwhale, a concept that has been made many times as a fakemon and arguably better by previous artists already.

I do admit I like merlice/merlire and wickeroot, even if the later falls in the burning tree cliche, because those designs at least aren't anywhere as cluttered as the rest of his stuff

If you can't think of something interesting to do with it then there's no point. Gen II made their bug shitmons showcase the day/night cycle, Gen III's Wurmple family was to shill the new Personality Value, Gen IV had the Burmy line to underscore gender differences and form changes, Gen V's twist was that they weren't shitmons at all, Gen VI's Vivillon had the whole international thing going for it, and Gen VII's Vikavolt makes me think that they were planning to overhaul the Speed stat but then changed their minds at the last second.

I've had the idea of an ice snail as a counterpart to Magcargo, which carries around salt in some form - whether a hat or within a shell, doesn't matter.

Have it half-submerged in ice (i.e. Satan in Divine Comedy), but the actual allusion would be to the thought experiment of Maxwell's demon. Would work well thematically in some region or cycle of related Pokemon that are themed after "science". Specifically a ghost/normal Schroedinger's cat to pair with it.
