I'd say Unova was more the North-Eastern Coast of the United States. Sure, it's got a desert. I'm pretty sure Japan doesn't have one either yet there are some in the regions focused in Japan.

Kalos was kinda more based on France than the entirety of Europe but I haven't finished Y yet so I can't say for sure.

I'd say Gen 8 has just as much chance as being another part of the United States as it does another part of Europe.

For The United States: There could be a generation focused on the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada) or the Southwest (A redo of Orre or a new one based on Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi).

For Europe: One excusively in the British Isles perhaps including some of the Nordic countries, one covering the Mediterranean East (Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Austria)...
