hi, i am a noob
it's my first time playing a pokemon game, i'm emulating Pokemon Sapphire - I already know I should have chosen Emerald instead, but ah well.
Anyhow, do I have to train all of my Pokemon in my party to the same level - have 'em all equally as strong, or is it better to have a select 2 or 3 that are super powerful?

Have a team of six and keep them around the same level.

Strictly speaking, it's easiest to only level up a couple, but having a full team is more fun.

Only train your starter and breeze through the game

Team of six for variety. You don't want the Elite Four later in the game kicking you on your common weaknesses.
oh okay, so all of them seems general consensus - i never realized that pokemon could get so grindy, lol
also, this is a really super dumb question
i know that skitty is a really pointless creature at the start of the game, at least it seems like that so far,
but, does she pull through when leveled up?

Skitty to Delcatty once you get your moon stone to evolve it still stays pretty useless overall. However, normal types learn a lot of great coverage moves so that should help you out a bit. I always tell people that they shouldnt worry about what pokemon they should choose if it's an in-game team. You can literally beat any pokemon game with an unevolved pidgey ect..
