I transferred my Sinnoh Rayquaza and taught it Dragon Ascent, it can still mega evolve just because of fervent wishes.

Game Freak announced that mega stones won't be competition exclusive, they'll distribute them via codes a couple of months after the original competition.

The only Mega Stones available in Alola are for Pokemon native to Alola (Kangaskhan, Gyarados)
Non-natives (Mawile, Camerupt) will have their stones distributed for participation in competitions, as well as universal codes that will be made available months down the road.
Until those distributions occur, you will have to live with the fact that the NPCs in the Battle Tree are allowed to use Mega Mawile and you're not, so haha
