Three years to go yet. Plus maybe Japan want a break from having Pikachu as a mascot for absolutely everything. The first character we saw at the unveiling was the only Nintendo character more iconic than Pikachu and Nintendo and Sega will pretty obviously have a large hand in promotion with the bi-annual Olympic video game. Do not be surprised to see more Pokélympics a bit closer to the date.

Tbh Level 5 is very hit or miss, so we might not. On one hand you have Professor Layton which was great, and then you have Time Bokan which flopped hard. It's possible L5 won't hit gold again before 2020.

YoKai Watch picked up good momentum here when the show was on air, but as soon as we got to episode 26 and the season ended, people lost interest. Now all we have a leftover Wave 1s. If they aired Season 2 it might revitalise it, but unless there's a show on tv nobody cares.

They were asked about it in an interview. The reasoning is that they felt Pokemon was too popular worldwide, so it wasn't as closely associated with Japan as the other franchises. They only made an exception for Mario.
