So which...is it? Anyway Araquanid thread! It's been far too long.
Fuck this fake news from sun. Blatant slander
>>31794808
Both? They don't really contradict each other. This is a good example >>31794817.
It took a lil' while but there's some nice art of my bro out there now.
>>31794833
Oddly specific reaction image..
>>31794808
>ifunny repost of a tumblr screencap
>>31794871
improved
>>31794883
I got it off google images. Does that make it better or worse?
>>31794808
I like it even if I find real spiders terrifying
>>31794924
Worse, because you could have cropped the IFunny watermark and didnt
>>31794808
It works, the sun dex doesn't say anything about attacking, just says it headbutts and small Pokemon get stuck inside,
Moon dex says it protects small Pokemon by bringing them into it's water bubble.
In other words, it's accidentally killing little Pokemon by over protecting.
>>31795108
But Dewpider's says that it crawls onto land in search of food, although I guess it doesn't specifically say prey....
On a separate note I don't think it's a stretch to propose that Cutiefly are probably Araquanid's main source of food. Spiders are usually depicted eating flies, and Cutiefly is tied for being the smallest pokémon in existence -- one of the few feasibly small enough to drown in the bubble.
>>31794808
Fins, hornfags need to go back.
>>31794985
>6 legs
not a spider
There's an NPC that claims the Sun entry is the case
>>31794808
>weak
>small
not synonymous
>This is actually a case where the sun and moon universes diverge
>In sun araquanid is a lethal killer of a pokemon
>In moon its a gentle giant
>>31794808
the retarded english translation forgot to add in the part where the moon dex mentions dewpiders
>>31794808
I like that pokemon.
I always figured it hunted during the day and rested at night, so it would just leisurely go around helping little pokes out in its spare time. Like a big burly biker gang member riding for charity.
>>31794808
>ifunny
>>31795419
Is that true? No auto-translations of Japanese ever work well....
>>31795337
So none of the spider pokemon are spiders then?
I assumed it can fill the bubble with either water or air at will, so it can do both.
>>31794817
I don't think this artist understands how Araquanid's facial anatomy works.
>>31795337
>>31794871
It's originally from imgur then reddit stole it and then 4chan got a hold of it.
>>31794808
Hell yeah araquanid
gen 7 bug types are the best
>>31795250
>implying diving bell spiders are spiders
>>31795250
Spinaraks sun entry: It waits intently until its preferred prey, Cutiefly, gets caught in its web. In fact, it's quite a patient Pokémon.
>>31794985
Same I love spider Pokémon but I'm scared by real one.
>>31795342
Source?
>>31795676
The german entry says "It saves little weak conspecifics in his bubble"
>>31800863
kek
>>31800799
Oh my god that's adorable.
I hope Moon's entry is the more true one. I like the idea of having a giant spider friend that, despite looking terrifying, is actually really nice! Not just a monster. A compassionate spider friend who scares the shit out of people but is harmless.
>>31795757
Yeah Araquanid's a little weird that way.
The actual thing it's based on is a spider that lives underwater by making air bubbles.
But when you send it out in battle of course it's going to be on land, so they reversed the gimmick.
Then, to provide an actual REASON why it needs the bubble, they said it's so it can breath. But no Water pokémon apparently ever had any difficulty breathing on land, so it's a little awkward.
>>31801788
Basically, Araquanid is the only one that's actually adapted to regularly going on land on its own. All other aquatic Pokemon can either breathe air or simply never leave water under normal circumstances.
>>31794808
>several gens of only Surskit as water bug
>new gen gives us two of them with amazing designs
Its both.
It tries to lovingly protect Pokemon by bringing them into its bubble, but ultimately just causes them to drown.
Would Araquanid lose it's extremities if it went into water?
Like it's joints would just merge with the rest of the water.
>>31800799
>He knees are his preferred spots to have petted
I find that really adorable for some reason.
Also when I first got him, I had no idea he was so fucking big. Big bubble buge
>>31794808
can it dive
>>31803460
It probably just breathes normally and has normal joints under the bubbles.
It might just make the bubbles for terrestrial movement.
>>31807983
Lunge/Liquidation is close enough.
>>31794883
>we are numbah on dead mem
Kys pls
>>31794817
>Dewpider sucks some of these little guys into its bubble
>Joltiks used Thunder!
>>31809067
And by Dewpider I meant Araquanid
ever since the leaks came out I knew araquanid would become a bro, and boy did he deliver
>>31807983
This is just as bad as vikavolt's
>>31794817
I laughed but then I felt really bad
>>31794808
Sun entry is the real one and the Rotomdex is trying to prank Moon players.
dewpider too
>>31794808
Sun Araquanid is jerk. That is all.
>>31794985
That bitch gonna drown
Post the lana pic pls
>>31797295
Thanks for reminding me of this
>>31794808
Obviously the Moon entry refers to water Pokemon, that won't drown.
This was really disheartening to me.
I was enjoying a lot of the new dex entries for how wild they were but if GF can't even keep their lore straight within ONE dex, why even bother paying attention to it at all? Might as well say i doesn't matter and is just random gibberish by various writers on the team who never even check their notes with each other.
I really want to like this guy. His design looks like some crazy Bionicle. But I hate how his head sphere is transparent but not his knees. OCD.
>>31815210
It's a mistranslation. Moon is supposed to say it saves dewpiders.
>>31815242
it's a visorak
>>31795688
no, they are pokemon
I think this thread deserves a bump
Araquanid is great.
>>31801788
>Dewpider and Araquanid are the first amphibious Pokemon to actually be unable to breathe on land
woh
>>31800863
>>31809013
>not knowing lazytown is an ancient 4chinz meme
how new could you possibly be
