This is a problem jrpg have had since the 80's. To make it worse, when they actually do have a slight variation or even a story diverge or choice, they always make it extremely obvious which one is the "right" one.

Never played Dragon Quest, but that sounds fucked. Hell, I didn't even know you could get married in those games. Also Tales of Symphonia was like that where, if you're playing the game like a person with a soul, you'll automatically get shoved into Collette's route. I've heard the Jap version of fire emblem fates had something like that too where Nohr gets a bittersweet ending while Hoshido(Japan) gets a "happy fun time no more problems you made the right choice" ending

I heard this back before the game came out and later that the western release toned some of that favoritism shit down, it doesn't matter since the third game is the true end and invalidates the two other endings.
