Aggron is one of my favorite Pokés of all time, but Tyranitar undoubtedly has more versatility, and is stronger (a pseudo, after all).
However, I always felt Tyranitar was overrated. I never had problems fighting against it. Its weaknesses are just too easy to exploit.
