I don't have a lot of nostalgia for Hoenn but I could probably map out the majority of it. I just think these games are trending towards becoming overcomplicated in the amount of shit going on.

Alola's simpler, four island design, might actually be a successful counterpoint to it.

Likely due to the blockiness of the maps being easier to remember than the round, ambiguous edges and paths in the 3D games. Defined, clear pathways with flat edges compared to rough edged, "floaty" pathways. I personally loved Dendemille though, it had excellent town music.

I've played X and Y 4 more times and I can barely name any towns. Dull as fuck games

by all accounts many parts of x/y should be memorable. Like the autumn town and the haunted swamp.

The last region I can remember cities by name is Gen 4. Even if I like Gen V, I can't name all of them, especially the ones from east of Unova.

The worst one is Alola.

Hoenn is probably the only region that comes close to Kanto's memorability. Johto is a close third. I don't know why I remember Kanto and Hoenn the most. Hoenn makes sense, since it has wacky topography (volcanoes, jungles, deserts, etc.), but I could draw you a map of Kanto in MS paint right fucking now and I'm sure it'd be at least 90% accurate and I don't know why. Maybe the normies are right.

Dendemille was one of the best towns in XY.
