We had a fusions thread and it made me wonder what does /vp/

Well they could start by putting in normal pokemon into places they should be (ie blossom in alola) and then redo the regional variants thing right (ie not just gen 1)

yeah that's a good idea, the appearance would depend on stuff like climate, which is pretty easy for some pokemon.

And what about crossbreding? Against or not?

That's impossible to implement unless only like 10 Pokemon were able to crossbreed

If we consider crossbred pokemon only able to reproduce with the same kind of pokemon, limiting the appearance modification process through only one generation, it's true that it would still be a lot of work designing all the possibilities. And I'm sure using an algorithm to achieve it would just make it look really bad. So the best they could do is, in fact, adding subspecies

Alola forms are GF's version of subspecies. And they said they're interested in making more regional forms in future game in an interview.

Because they dont like holes in their series, the only way it'll happen is with new Pokemon or new egg group combinations. Same reasoning why Eevee doesn't evolve into Leafeon via Leaf Stone or why Electivire and friends need specific items. Bellossum isn't going to have a new bred form with Tangela if they can already breed now into a normal Oddish/Tangela. BUT if Bellossum and Exeggutor couldnt breed before they would come up with some bullshit reason as to why they can now, and then get a fusion baby either counting as a form or a new species. But I think that if they did it then it would just be with new Pokemon because they havent existed yet so breeding could be different with them.

that's another good reason for adding subspecies only based on the region where they live and not on crossbreeding

Would you rather crossbreeding be a purely aesthetic feature or would you want it to introduce a fuck ton of typing changes and such? Sounds like it would extensive as fuck if implemented.
