I just rewatched XY1-2. Man, the hype for those two episodes was great. I also miss the old animation style more and more.

Yajima really needed to stay on as permanent director, I don't know why they axed him after only one series. Him and Tomioka at the helm and we'd get a perfect series.

I think that has to do with a lot of people being left broken over Ash losing the league and a lot of people only coming because of said league and due to a lot of spammers like the Serenafags leaving, leaving only a few Serenafags left to spam threads,

I feel sorry for fans of the newer girl characters, especially the SM girls, they're going to barely get to see them do anything. With such a large cast and the show focused on Ash again, the SM girls won't be much more than collectable background material. Serena also suffered in the first year of XY for this.

I really liked how the transition from Misty to May to Dawn all had each new female companion with a bigger role than the previous. It felt like a natural evolution that each main girl was getting more and more to do. I have no idea why they stopped this. I actually thought Dawn's type of role was going to be the new standard going forward for future girls before Iris was introduced.
