How do Pokemon societies work if none of them even have names and just all go by the name of their species?

>"I'm Electabuzz, and that's my brother, Electabuzz"
>>
>>31747000
What game is this anon?
>>
>>31747022

>>
hahaha, I don't really know.
>>
>>31747034
That's the first one.
>>
>>31747000
probably would work like how countries where people call each other by last name
>>
>>31747000
>How do Pokemon societies work if none of them even have names and just all go by the name of their species?
It's bullshit made up for kids games.
Or generally for games.
Like evolution, four moves, eggs getting outta nowhere, all pokemon being dumb animals once you catch them.
>>
>>31747000
Maybe they share a common identity
An electabuzz that's different from you is just "electabuzz in a different place" whereas you are "electabuzz here"
>>
>>31747000
Something similar happens in PMD, there's this usaring and it's little brother teddiursa, teddiursa evolves and ursaring is not happy because pokemon have no way to differentiate one from the other.
>>
>>31747034
>>31747000
Were they fun in any form?
>>
>>31748854
never played the first but just beat the 2nd a couple days ago

not really
>>
>>31747000
"To pronounce it correctly, I'll have to pull out your tongue."
>>
>>31747000
better question

>"If not exist humans in pokepark universe, Why exist Human Building?
>>
>>31747000
That's nothing. Look at the naming practices of the Tao people, one of the indigenous populations of Taiwan.

Let's say that someone has just been born, and his parents have given him the name Maraos. His name is Si Maraos. If he's the first son of the family, then his father's name is now Syaman Maraos, and his mother's name is now Synan Maraos.

Now, Si Maraos goes on to fall in love with a lovely young lady--her name is irrelevant, because she's about to give it up--and they have a child. And it's their firstborn son! They name their son Rapongan. So, their son is named Si Rapongan, the artist formerly known as Si Maraos is now named Syaman Rapongan, his wife is Synan Rapongan...and the former Syaman Maraos and Synan Maraos are now both named Syapen Rapongan, as are the wife's parents.

In other words, Syapen Rapongan is married to Syapen Rapongan, and the two of them have a son who married the daughter of Syapen Rapongan and Syapen Rapongan.

It's the same way Nurse Joy works in the anime. They just go by "Nurse Joy" and explain which one they are if they really need to.
>>
>>31748854
I had fun with both games
>>
>>31748854
I had a good time with the first one. I was 16 when I bought it though, so that may have changed by now.
>>
>>31749067
That's completely retarded in a lot of ways. Who thought that that was appropiate?
>>
>>31748829
So does that mean that your partner is a pariah for having a name?
>>
>>31747000
Given how breeding works in the games I just assume the Pokemon familial relationships are akin to the deep south countryside of America where through various forms of fuckery you can be your own grandfather
>>
Just like they do in every other fictional world where the main characters are animals named after their own species.
>>
>>31750364
>Ditto has just given up on naming any of it's children.

>The only time it'll ever see any of them anyway is when it's being forced to breed with them.
>>
>>31748854
I thought the first one was decently fun. Didn't play the second.
>>
>>31749100
It was explained in an episode that Joy is just their last name and that they have different first names.
>>
>>31752697
Nu-pokemon ruins everything.
>>
>>31749067
Amazing.
>>
>>31750364
>through various forms of fuckery you can be your own grandfather
Please elaborate on these various forms of fuckery
>>
>>31750338
>>31752811
It's called Teknonymy.
