Well, I mean overall I still enjoyed games like XY, ORAS and SM, but this is really the first time it's made so obvious that the game has a fuck load of unused zone, scenario element, and even misused things, like UBs not being boss battle during the main plot, or not showing Gladion's Type:Null evolving, I mean come on.
This games feels like they had ton of cool ideas, but they couldn't fit it in due to a short deadline, so they decided to put them quickly into random side quest or scrapped them completely.
I just prey for those game to have a third version where they had the time to put in everything they wanted to in the way they intended to. This is just me theorizing, but I'm sure GF still care about making Pokemon games, it's just that Nintendo are giving them way too short deadline. And while those deadline were manageable when they did 2d games, they just can't keep up this rythm if they want to do a decent 3d one...

You would have a point if it were battle assets but this is the overworld with their own load zones and everything. The 3DS would have been able to handle the additional areas easily especially given what it can do in other games.

Yeah this is probably the worst part about these games. Unlike literally every other game before fucking the jump to 3D, it was never an issue to tell or judge where you could and couldn't go. Because of the fucking feces fucking camera, lack of tiles, and the fucking awful graphics along with dozens of unfinished/scrapped locations, I'm constantly running into invisible walls and trying to get to areas you can see from an area but can't get to from that area so you try to find an alt. route, maybe something that you can't get to until later in the game or something of that ilk, or maybe it just looks like a path and the graphics are just shitty and the path you can't go down looks no different from a regular path, or, fucking whatever.

Fuck Gen VI. Fuck SM. Say what you want about any of the older games, I don't care, but these are absolute fucking dogshit.

In my experience, most of the routes were straight roads with patches of tall grass or a mostly empty coastline to either side, and there's only 17 of them. Even including Poni (which I shouldnt have to) just brings it to about 20.

There's a few good routes like the one next to Po Town but that's really it.

I'm not even kidding. There's an interview with Matsuda where he says the reason the battle frontier wasn't in the ORAS remakes was because only a small amount of players would appreciate it but most would get frustrated/bored with it. He blamed players today for being more easily flustered/not interested in something demanding or challenging as the main reason for not including it.

But here it's different, it feels like part of the story line were severly cut, same for random explorable zone. I mean, we have a replica of Terminus Cave and there's no Zygarde fight or interaction, instead we have a Guzzlord fight, without any overworld model present, like they just decide to put it here because they didn't have the time to include a proper UB storyline in the main story, or a proper Zygarde side quest.
It really feels like those games were full of ideas, and everything went horribly wrong because they had to deliver before Christmas

Considering the altar is a bowl with some kind of castle in front of it, yes. You could do some kind of rooms like the sunken ship in ORAS for the castle and something interesting with the entrances shown in the video, which seem to be entrances leading down into the bowl.

Nobody denies the cut locations in GSC or DP are definitely cut locations. Like the road to the east of Goldenrod, or how Mahogany Town used to be where Lake of Rage was. It's a fully textured area and a rather large one at that.

The difference is those regions still had enough content for their time. People wouldnt be looking for content in Alola if it had enough in the first place.

Whirl Islands was an entire network of caves with Lugia in it's own room. We get an Altar of comparable size here but it's all a giant nothing.

If you're talking about Pokemon, yes, there's been cut content before, but not as much and as obvious as in SM. I mean, it's clearly visible in certain area. That would not be a problem if the game still had many content, but the number of caves and dungeon is underwhelming compared to all the other games.

If you're talking about video games in general, well... That's the same thing, usually cut content in game is not really an issue because, the game still has a lot of content to play with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that what's happening with SM is not happening with other video games. But the game still truly feels like it's half of what it should be...

I don't know for you but... I had that feeling while playing this game, don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed and liked SM even now.
But when I realised that you're teleported up to the volcano instead of going through a cave, I thought it was a shame, but I didn't care less.
Same when I visited the Suune/Moone Lake, it was really sad to see that beautiful place, and just walk in a straight line while all the other way was blocked by some rocks. It's not like it's subtle, the rocks are only in front of the doors and nowhere else. I wanted so bad to explore that place but, there was nothing.
This is not really "a big deal over nothing", it's like telling you that in, ORAS you just have to enter the Sky pillar and you're teleported to the top (Even though they did dumbed down the Sky Pillar, but it wasn't that bad, and the soundtrack was pretty nice). Or discovering that Cerulean cave is now just a straight line to Mewtwo, that would just be a shame because, the sense of exploration that was present in the game since gen V would no longer be here.

No, it's because, unlike FFXV, Pokemon SM has not that much content to begin with, so seeing a part of it scrapped while they were almost fully exploitable is kind of infuriating. I wanted to visit Lake Suune/Moone, I wanted to explore the volcano, that cave in Brooklet Isle, I wanted to explore the region, but a part of it is locked away from us, and it's such a shame.
I liked SM but the game feels like it was going to be bigger than it really was because they had to release it before Holliday.

Seems interesting cause gamefreak always has the assets hidden in a game before they "unlock" them in a future patch and stuff like that.
