Celadon City should be Pokémon Las Vegas.

Neon light everywhere, arcades with fun minigames (I would say casinos but you know why I can't), maybe some hotels kinda like the one in Lumiose, and increased NPC activity at night with more lively music playing than during the day.

I'd like to see a Kanto game set in the near future, with development taking place. I actually made a simple map with my ideas on it. Here are some highlights.

- There's a section of Viridian Forest filled with stronger monsters that can't be accessed until you have access to Diglett's cave. It's called the Deep Viridian.

- Area north of Pewter City has a short route leading to some abandoned mine shafts. It's your introductory cave in the game.

- Mt. Moon Square has expanded and is now a full-blown town, with its own gym and everything.

- Area north of Cerulean is vastly expanded. In particular, Nugget Bridge terminates at a fork in the road. Going west leads to a snowy route which eventually leads to a winter-themed town. Going further west from there leads to a series of caves that terminate in Mt. Moon's peak. Going down waterfalls can be a quick way to travel back to My. Moon itself.

- The area east of Cerulean has a thriving boom-town that has sprung up since a newpower plant was opened. The Rock Tunnel has been turned into a thriving mining operation, filled with lots of mine carts and conveyor belts.

- In the area east of Bill's house is another new town. This is a sleepy fishing village that also serves as a fuel depot for the S.S. Anne. This is how you get to Vermillion City.

- The former Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town was destroyed by a fire after getting turned into a radio tower. Instead, there is now the Pokemon Catacombs, which link up to other underground locations in the game, namely Saffron's sewers and the old Rocket base under Celadon.

- Saffron has vastly expanded and the routes leading directly into it have all been urbanized. The path leading to Cerulean is now home to a contest hall, the road leading to Celadon now leads to a massive park, the road leading to Lavender is now Saffron's historical district and also home to the city's university, and the route leading to Vermillion is now all factories and warehouses.

The plot of land in Vermilion actually has something built there. I don't care what, anything. Pissed me off how it actually got rockier in HGSS. How do you fuck up flattening land that badly?

The only acceptable answer is a sequel with a LOT of shit updated and changed. Have you guys learned nothing from OR/AS? Gen 1 is far too dated to be acceptable on the 3DS or even Switch. Preferably we would never return to Kanto though, unless it was a HG/SS-style Post-game.

I liked Johto on it's own.

I never really played Gold, I kind've soured on Pokemon at that age as I watched Pokemon cards become a status symbol in my school to a fad to something to be mocked. I came back later in HeartGold and really appreciated the region.

I love Kanto, but Johto just seems a little bit tighter in it's design - everything flows nicely, I don't get stuck have to grind forever to beat the Elite Four. Or go fishing through Surge's trashcans. Fuck that gym.

I feel it never really got standalone focus in any pokemon game. It's meant to be more spiritual and traditional than kanto, but besides Ecruteak, and maybe Blackthorns dragon elders, nothing about this is shown.

That's because Gen 2 was never, ever considered it's own Generation.

Gold & Silver, for all intents and purposes, is just Red 2 & Blue 2.

The game is literally just Gen 1.5, but you get an extra Region to explore.

Gen 3 was Game Freaks real Gen 2.

This is why Gen 2 seems to get such little love from Game Freak. Because they basically lump Gen 2 in with Gen 1. (Why are the roundeye upset with no Johto character in the battle tree!? We put in Red didn't we!?)

The area of the map north of Pewter and Cerulean can be expanded upon ala what BW2 did to south west Unova. I wouldn't mind if they expanded the region into stretching far north of Cerulean cape. As for vanilla Kanto, make the routes longer by scaling them out, just because route 5-8 are tiny on the map doesn't mean they can't be scaled out to appear longer and filled with interesting land marks and locations, Especially now that they love screen changes everytime you leave a city/route and no longer flow seamlessly into one another.

For the love of god put a battle tower or something somewhere in Kanto, I would have actually preferred r/s battle tower copy pasted into frlg instead of that dumb ass trainer tower on island 7

On top of letting Dusk, dawn and shiny stone allowing umbreon, espeon, and sylveon, or at the very least let you get sylveon in a different way so they don't have to throwing in amie/refresh while removing features.
