Considering Kanto boys can't cheat with mega evolutions I think the XY protag would beat him on that advantage alone

Hilbert isn't even canonically a champion, nor is his league that hard. He's the only one I have actual doubts about even though his game is my favorite.

I don't think red is the strongest, however when you ask this, Idrk, most contenders across the manga (I assume that's what you're talking about) who are into battling are probably around the same skill level

Emerald apparently beat Red in the Battle Dome, but it's likely that it only happened because Emerald is better at specialized battles that have extra rules attached as opposed to free-style battling.
