I've nicknamed one Pokemon after a friend once, and it was in S/M. My buddy Jack's first nuzlocke was going smoothly, he grinded up his bros, got super attached and didn't want to lose anyone (as new nuzlockers always want). He goes to Mt Moon and has some struggles, but all is mostly well.

Until he fights a super nerd with a Magnemite. That Magnemite rekt his entire team, breaking his (sweet virginal) heart. To this day, he hates the Magnemite line and in any game always has a ground/fire type ready to exterminate even the potential of one.

And when he and I got S/M at midnight and stayed up till 4 playing the games together, guess who caught a Magnemite and named it Jack? Me. And then I whooped his ass in an online battle with Jeff the Magnezone. He hasn't mentioned Pokemon around me since.
