Now that the Dustox has settled, did SunMoon have a good soundtrack?

The battle themes were the best part of the game, easily. It's almost like they knew you'd be on Tauros/Stoutland half the time. But those battle themes were damn good.

Yes, sadly though 90% of most player's time spent on the overworld you'll be listening to the fucking awful Ride music

I legitimately like most rival themes for their upbeat tone and general happiness. Themes other than hau's also have a nostalgic feeling woven between them. I somehow got that vibe from serena's theme, but the best was may's in ORAS after beating the league and getting all sappy over the credits (which were pretty well done due to the awesome music and retelling of major events).

I have that tune as my festival plaza music because the default sucks and there's no reason to ever revisit that town, so might as well repurpose the music. It's good.

Pokeride music was fucking weak, it was appropriate in/around Paniola Town but that was it.

At the very, very least, they should have made it so that Lapras/Sharpedo had their own water-track. Not like there's any fucking water for you to surf on anyway.

I'd prefer it if they just cut the biking/riding music entirely, I have always preferred the overworld track in every game.

Sun and Moon's overworld tracks were very repetitive unfortunately, 75% of them were all remixes of the exact same base track. Only a couple stood out, a lot of the Night-themes were better than the Day themes and Malie city in particular had a great track.

The Battle tracks are where Sun/Moon's music really shined.

Gladion, Vs Kahuna, Lusamine 1 & 2, Team Skull, Guzma's, Elite Four, Champion and Battle Legend are all really good. Even the generic wild Pokemon theme is good, not quite on Gen V's level but good.

I wish the Battle Tree special trainers' personal tracks would override your selection. i.e. if you encounter Colress, it always plays Colress' theme instead of your selection, same with Cynthia etc.

All in all, Sun and moon gets a 6-7/10 for music in my opinion. Good battle themes, but generally lackluster and forgettable overworld tracks.

The score doesn't seem that high only because I know that Gamefreak is capable of much more. The music is one of the things Gamefreak excels at as a developer, (and they don't excel at a whole lot.)
