Serena's problem was that 50% of her character was wanting Ash's dick. Had they started slow with their relationship, maybe hhev Serena fall in love with him during the Summer Camp arc and not from the get-go as shipping bait, then maybe she wouldn't have as bad as a reputation as she does in the community. She doesn't have a bad reputation at all. At least not anymore. She's very popular. Only shipperfags and certain spergs here and on other sites like Serebii really hate her, and it's often because of the tired old "muh Satoshi" meme, as if Amour was in every other fucking episode even though it wasn't. A lot of those people didn't even watch XY fully through.

I agree Serena's goal could've used improvement in terms of the competitions and how they worked, but I ended up loving her character anyway for reasons that had nothing to do with shipping or the crappiness of the Tripokalons.

Why is it a rule that the girls have to do the contest thing in the anime? Can't they also just do the gyms or just have a different goal altogether, depending on the region?

I mean, Brock is gone (which is the biggest mistake of the anime period) so why not make her a pokemon breeder? Or how about having her be the champion/a gym leader, who is wandering the region out of boredom? Or even the leader/an admin of the gen's bad guys?

The Sun and moon anime looks like shit and is probably the most cancer thing since cancer, but at least they shook up that dumb dynamic.

In this case it's more the fact that people that like her are also people that watch the anime and thus post in the anime thread, while /vp/ has a relatively sizable amount of anons that hate everything about the anime and will call everything from it shit and cancer no matter what it is.

Or in other words, people that watch the anime tend to like her, while people that hate the anime and everything related to it hate her because she's from the anime.
