I fear the day this inevitably happens
It'll be like when mega evolutions happened, most likely. I'll skip a gen and then the next gen drops/downplays the mechanic.

The sad part is I can actually see this happening. We've already got powering up Pokémon and powering up moves, so all that's left is powering up the trainer.

Frontier's budget issues and final arc is probably what killed Digimon for a while. They really shafted Tommy, Zoe, JP and Koichi out of the spotlight. Either way, it was still FUCKTONS better than Hunters and god DAMN if the English dub didn't have killer music.

On the subject of Digimon music, One Vision and the other Matrix Digivolution themes were fucking incredible.

Also, I don't think this will ever happen. A Trainer will always be a Trainer. Becoming a fighter isn't even an option. If anything, fusing with you will only hinder the Pokemon.

frontier is pretty fucking fun at the start, but after they get the other twin in the crew it starts to fall apart

but the arc inside sephirothmon or whatever he was called is awesome

It was a shit gimmick in Digimon, it was a shit gimmick in the Battle Network cartoon, it'd be a shit idea here. Mega Evolution already involves synchronizing with your Pokemon, and Battle Bond has the physical transference effect. Better to expand on either of those rather than go for outright fusions.

What comes after this trainer/Pokemon fusion mechanic would most likely be a multiple Pokemon fusion mechanic. Like Xros Wars shit or Special Fusion.
Why aren't we playing MegaTen or Digimon instead? It's obvious by now Pokemon is only trying to catch up to other games. ZMoves are essentially Super Arts.

I get it when you have to tell your pokemon to do the attack, but most of the time, it's the attacker calling it out, and that's plain stupid.
I also find always having to do specific poses when using Z-moves to be retarded.
