I disagree, for the reason that megas are a bit different from regular evolutions.

Evolutions, by defintion, tend to introduce a new concept to a given line. Megas simply take an existing design and make it more convoluted.

For instance, look at the difference between lairon/aggron (quadruped to biped, his plating changes shape and grows spikes) and aggron/M-aggron (same stance, same placement of all design elements, his head spike goes up instead of down).

A mega is like a pokemon ramped up to 11, which works very well here considering its ability but I wouldn't call it an evolution.

I don't even have a competitive Mawile, but I'm glad to see that its Mega Stone, as well as the others in general, are going to be given out.
I just wish Game Freak hadn't chosen to do it this way. Patching the Battle Tree shop would have been so much simpler. Plus, that way nobody would be at risk of missing out on the events and thus losing out on the Mega Stones.

Anyway, I am kinda upset it's not just a regular Evo because I think it looks a lot cooler than regular Mawile, like a real samurai. I know some people say it's a better fit for Mega, but it feels like one of those evos from Pawniard to Bisharp or Pidgeotto to Pidgeot. Sure not a lot changes, but it obviously looks different enough in size and shape. It's taller, got baggier "hakama", gets purple in its design, two mouths, etc.

I'm glad, but I wish it wasn't nearly *another* month away.
Beedrill and Mawile really suck without their megas, and I'm not just talking competitively.

It's also worrisome how people who buy the game late are going to get mega stones, because if they're giving them out like this then they're probably not going to be put in some in game shop making events like these the only way to get them, and they're probably only going to give out each one once, so if you didn't get the game within the first couple of months you're fucked.
